Gray's Inn Advocacy Days are great opportunities for students interested in exploring a career at the Bar to experience advocacy and ethics training before committing to a Bar course. Attendees receive feedback and tips in a supportive, non-judgmental environment, under the guidance of our practising members. There are also talks from leading barristers on the key elements that make a great advocate, and how the Inn supports our members throughout their journey to the Bar.   Mini-Pupillage Application closing date: 31st-March-2027 We see mini-pupillage as useful both for potential applicants and for Chambers. Mini-pupillage provides the opportunity to obtain experience of the work we do and of the atmosphere in Chambers. The visit is not assessed. Those accepted for mini-pupillage will spend one day in Chambers (usually with junior members but sometimes also with KCs) attending court and conferences, and studying sets of papers. There are a limited number of places available for mini-pupillage each year and these are confined to the court terms. They are always heavily over-subscribed, particularly between October and January. We find that mini-pupils obtain the most from the experience if they have completed at least a year of an undergraduate law degree or, for those converting to law, have started the GDL course at the point when they visit Chambers. 4 New Square Chambers - Mini-Pupillage Application closing date:  Midday - Wednesday 21st October 2026 Mini-pupillages are available to those who have completed at least two years of a university degree. We offer four mini-pupillage days per year. Two dates in Summer, usually in July & September and two dates in Winter, usually in December & January. On each mini-pupillage day we will welcome up to 20 mini-pupils. Please note, our Summer 2026 applications are now closed. The mini-pupillage day will comprise of: Q&A sessions with both senior and junior members of chambers about the work which 4 New Square does, the pupillage application process and life as a pupil and junior tenant. Young Legal Aid Lawyers (YLAL) is dedicated to improving social mobility in the legal sector, supporting the interests of junior lawyers, and supporting students in their transition from education to legal practice. The YLAL Student Essay Competition is an opportunity for students to engage with prevalent issues in the legal aid sector and be duly recognised for their hard work. Question: In 2025, the UK House of Commons Justice Committee concluded its call for written evidence to a major Access to Justice inquiry, with findings expected in 2026. Part of this inquiry is aimed at looking at the impact of emerging new technologies on legal aid provision. Critically analyse the ways in which artificial intelligence might increase, undermine, or fundamentally transform access to justice for those who rely on legal aid services in England and Wales. Sheffield Youth Justice - Community Panel Members - Volunteer Application Closing Date: Monday 24th August Training Commences: Monday 7th September Youth Justice Panels are influenced by Restorative Justice. Volunteer Community Panel Members chair a meeting where the child who has committed an offence, their parent/carer, Community Panel Members, and sometimes the victim of the offence, discuss the impact of the offence on the victim. The child is encouraged to take responsibility for their actions, undertake some reparation to make amends for the offence and agree a contract to address offending behaviour, other issues they may face, and assist them to re-integrate into the community.
