London City Connections
Aimed at penultimate and final year UG students from the Faculty, with priority given to students who meet widening participation criteria.
Gain a unique perspective on working in the Capital with a free day trip to visit London businesses (all travel included)
Application deadline: Sunday 11 February
Travel as a group to meet professionals living and working in London, who graduated from the University of Sheffield, in a huge range of roles with Social Sciences and Arts/Humanities backgrounds. Whatever your degree subject or career aspirations, LCC is a fantastic chance to see what London has to offer and gain insight from those who were once in your shoes - including their top tips for job applications and interviews.

Civil Service - Summer and Year Placements in Sheffield & Leeds
Aimed at penultimate year UG students from the Faculty.
Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and Department for Education (DFE) in Sheffield and Leeds are offering a unique opportunity for you to gain Civil Service experience, offering a bespoke placement programme for students at the University of Sheffield, Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Leeds. Vacancies will be available for 10 week placements during the summer of 2024, and a Placement year starting in summer 2024. Vacancies will be advertised on the Civil Service jobs website soon.
Come along to an informal information session to hear more from DWP and DFE colleagues about the programme, meet students who took part last year, and gain insights to help you through the application process.

Easter Workplace Insights
Aimed at penultimate year UG students from the Faculty.
Are you interested in gaining experience related to your passions and interests? Complete a project for an organisation and receive a £770 bursary!
The Employability Team in the Faculty of Social Sciences have sourced over 100 internships exclusively for 2nd year University of Sheffield students. You’ll receive £770 for completing a 70 hour internship
The internship takes place in the University Easter vacation - between 25 March and 12 April 2024
Projects designed with your discipline, skills and interests in mind
Projects designed to offer ‘early career’ experience - apply even if you have limited experience so far
Develop new skills, build confidence and networks in a professional environment, and gain career insights
There are two schemes available:
Main Workplace Insights programme - a wide range of projects for all Social Sciences disciplines - see this information pack for examples and application tips
Civil Service Workplace Insights - we have 16 projects available with DWP, DfE and the Home Office - projects making a real contribution to policy development. See the information pack for examples from last year.

Aimed at final-year UG and PGT students
The University of Sheffield Internship Scheme offers final-year undergraduate and PGT students the opportunity to undertake a paid internship with a University department.
35-hour and 70-hour internships will be available across a variety of roles to help build your employability, gain valuable work experience, and develop your skills.
Applications are now open and will close on 27th February.
