Pegasus Challenge - try PR and communications for the day!

The Pegasus Challenge is the chance to work with students from other disciplines across the faculty and develop your teamwork skills while collaborating on a community development scenario. You’ll develop commercial awareness by learning about other roles in a business, and presentation skills by presenting your plans to your peers and Pegasus representatives.

Communities can thrive or decline as a result of their environment. Social cohesion, social justice well-being are all affected by the quality of housing, infrastructure and access to green spaces - and this in turn shapes economic development. Community is a political, social and economic issue. Would you like to explore this?

Pegasus Group is a leading development consultancy, providing consultancy expertise in projects supporting a range of social and environmental goals, including Blandford Hill Eco Hub, Kirklees Cultural Heart and the Merseyside Domestic Violence Unit.

You’ll be working in a team of eight on a brief given by Pegasus. We’ll be running a workshop for teams to get to know each other on Friday 15th March and then the challenge will take place on Monday 25th March from 9am to 4pm in the Cornerstone, with lunch provided.

Your team’s task will be to cost, design and promote a masterplan for a site owned by a client, for potential inclusion in a Local Plan.

Your role could be:

  • Economist/business specialist - identifying the development and economic potential of the site, looking at opportunities, constraints, potential and capacity. To take this role, you should have an interest in and understanding of data or financial information.

  • PR/communications specialist - developing a communications plan to generate support for the site.

You do not need any previous experience or knowledge of planning, architecture or the built environment.

Each team will include:

  • Two planners

  • Two landscape architects

  • Two architects

You’ll all be fully briefed on your role and you will all make contributions in different ways. Click on this link for more information about the challenge.
