Come join us at the Free Social Sciences Community Fair - 16th and 25th April - The Wave

Created and presented to you by students, we invite you to attend our free Social Sciences Community Fair which takes place in The Wave across two days in April. You’re welcome to attend as many of the exciting opportunities shown below as you like, and we will also be launching our new website made for students, by students.

Tuesday 16th April

10:00 - 11:00 Student voice & Coproduction Website Launch - made for you!


  • Join the Student Coproduction Associates and members of the Faculty Education Team to learn more about how to utilise and showcase your student voice within the Faculty. Hear about the SCA work and how students' voices have been considered to create a new website to enable easy access for students to gain key information, and read about personal experiences of others with tips and tricks on a broad range of topics. Breakfast snacks and drinks provided.


12:30 - 14:00 Fair games & helpful Uni staff pop-up stalls!

  • Join us for lunch where we have members of staff from multiple services and teams key to your educational experience all in one place to answer your questions, whilst taking part in games to win prizes. You’re welcome to drop into this event anytime between 12:30 and 14:00.

15:00 - 16:00 Essay & Dissertation Guidance - delivered by 301


  • 301 will be delivering a session to assist you with how to research, plan and execute essays and dissertations, supported by PGT students from the Faculty. 


Thursday 25th April


10:00 - 11:00 Wellbeing - Managing Workload,Stress and Relaxation Techniques


  • Led by our Faculty Student Wellbeing Advisor this session will focus on how to manage academic stress including the support that’s available for students. We will also be joined by a Sheffield-based Yoga instructor who will lead a guided relaxation session, including techniques for you to adopt to help maintain a healthy approach to managing mental health whilst studying. Breakfast snacks and drinks provided.

15:00 - 16:00 Library Support, Referencing & Guided Tour


  • Staff from the Library will deliver a session to learn all about academic referencing, and the wider support offered by the Library. Students will also have the opportunity to take place in an optional guided tour of the library by a member of staff, which is a great opportunity to become more familiar with the building.

These opportunities are open to all students in the Faculty of Social Sciences, however, if there is more interest than spaces, priority will be given to students who identify with one or more widening participation characteristics listed on the Google form in line with the funding for this project.
