Join our Faculty’s unique student peer-coaching programme -deadline Friday 24th January, 5pm.
Would you like to boost your employability, improve your academic confidence and motivation, set and achieve personal goals and connect with a new network of arts and humanities students?
If so, consider applying for our innovative Peer Coaching programme for undergraduate students in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.
What is Peer Coaching and how can it help me?
Peer-coaching involves partnering with a fellow student where you alternate between the roles of coach and coachee to support each other’s personal and professional development.
Coaching is a core leadership and management skill and is highly valued by employers so completing this programme can help your CV stand out in the crowd. If you aren’t sure what coaching is - check out this short 1 minute video here. Our evaluation research shows that 100% of students who participated in the programme last year said that it made a positive difference to their lives.
Don’t just take our word for it -Listen to what other students have said about the significant impact of the programme on their confidence, goal setting and career planning:

What does taking part in the Peer Coaching programme involve?
6 hours of in-person coaching methods training and practice, led by two professional executive coaches (ILM Level 7 accredited) across 2 sessions. Here you will learn all the techniques required to be an effective coach, and to get the most out of being a coachee.
Paired peer-coaching partnerships. You will be paired with a fellow undergraduate student and together you and your partner will develop your skills by alternating roles as coach and coachee in regular coaching sessions across the Spring semester (4 hours in total). Your paired coaching sessions will take place at a flexible time and day to work for you both around your studies and other commitments.
3 hours of in-person professional development workshops designed around topics and issues that matter most to the group. This might include sessions such as ‘tackling procrastination’, ‘career planning’, or ‘managing imposter syndrome’.
Group supervision session (1 hour) to ensure that you are fully supported in your peer coaching experience and to maintain safe, ethical and healthy boundaries around your practice.
Integrated MySkills component so you can record evidence of work-based learning directly into MySkills, build your CV and boost your employability.
Participation in evaluation activities so that we can improve the programme for future groups of students and an onboarding workshop to help you get to know your cohort.
Who can apply?
All undergraduate students from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities are invited to apply, and no prior knowledge or experience of coaching is required. See the FAQs here for more information.
For context: in the private sector it would normally cost you around £750 to access the training and development sessions which we are offering for free on our programme. All we ask is that you are able to commit to a total of 16 hours participation across the Spring Semester (February-May 2025).
