Encouraging sustainable moves through ‘Donate, Don’t Waste’

 

Every summer, nearly 40,000 students relocate within Sheffield, often resulting in significant amounts of discarded items.  To address this, ‘Donate, Don’t Waste’ provides students with convenient options to donate reusable goods and minimise their environmental footprint.

Since it began in 2013, the ‘Donate, Don’t Waste’ initiative has diverted over 76,000 bags of reusable items from landfill, equating to more than £1 million in donations and 612 tonnes of goods. Additionally, over 12 tonnes of food have been donated to S6 Foodbank, providing approximately 17,465 meals.
