What is SURE?
SURE offers six-week funded summer research scholarships for undergraduate students, working in partnership with an academic supervisor. Successful UG applicants will receive a bursary of £1,500, to support their living costs during their project. Project ideas can come from students, supervisors, or in collaboration.
Why should I apply for SURE?
Taking part in the SURE Scheme will give you a chance to:
participate in a real research project
deepen your knowledge of a subject
enhance your research skills
gain experience in an academic research environment, including learning about career options
enhance your employability
develop transferable skills in areas such as project management and collaboration
Who can apply?
The scheme is aimed at students from all Faculties. Any undergraduate student not in their first or final year of study can apply. One exception to this is MBChB and BDS students, who can apply for SURE in their first year.
How do I find a Supervisor?
Any current member of academic, research, technical or teaching staff, or postgraduate research student can be a supervisor. Consider approaching staff who have taught you, or using staff profiles to identify people whose research interests align. If staff are unable to commit, they may recommend other people to contact.

Subject: Student Observation of Teaching scheme - Influence learning and teaching at the University
You could play an active role in enhancing learning and teaching at the University, through working with staff to help them develop their teaching.
The Student Observation of Teaching scheme is an opportunity to work as an observer, offering feedback to staff on their teaching practices.
This could take a number of different formats, from observing classes, to leading a focus group of students, and talking with them about questions, challenges, or ideas they have in their teaching. Full training and support will be provided.
How the scheme will benefit you:
Develop useful skills and experiences for your CV.
Support you to reflect on your own learning, by helping you to get the most from your programme.
You will receive a certificate recognising your contribution to learning and teaching.
You will gain a better understanding of your University and its academic schools.

To apply, complete the application form by 9am on Friday 6 February:
There will be an initial training event, as well as ongoing workshops and support throughout the semester.
Successful applicants will be confirmed by Thursday 12 February and will be invited to a launch session. There are two different sessions available:
Wednesday 18 February, 5 - 6.30pm
Friday 20 February, 10 - 11.30am
