Registration Now Open for Short Courses & Summer School (BIICL)

The spring programme of short courses at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law (BIICL) is now open for booking.

This spring, our courses span a broad selection of subjects, including migration and refugee law, transitional justice, climate change law, public international law, cyberspace, trade law, and labour law.

They draw on our well-established research programme and are led by international experts from BIICL’s own team alongside external partners, bringing together academic expertise and practical insight.

Scholarships and discounts are available.

As you may know, BIICL is a world leading research institute on international, comparative and rule of law matters. Our training programme combines expert insights and practical experience and courses are taught by a combination of academics and practitioners.

Each of our courses is designed to allow participants to gain expert insights and to deepen their knowledge in areas of international and comparative law.

As such, we envisage that they will be of particular interest to students undertaking postgraduate study at the University of Sheffield.

Part of our offering for students is a discount to those who are members of the Institute.

For 2026 this discount has been increased to 20%.

Anyone interested in becoming a student member of BIICL can find out more here.

We are also delighted to be offering scholarships including for students and recent graduates who are in receipt of a needs-based bursary and for those from communities under-represented in the legal field.

We hope to welcome the University of Sheffield students to our courses in 2026.
