Final year/postgraduate students needed: Sheffield Court Helpdesk Volunteers needed!

The School of Law is working with Sheffield Hallam University and the University of Law to create the new Sheffield Court Helpdesk.

This is designed to support litigants-in-person with civil and family claims. 

The role entails assisting individuals with understanding  and navigating court requirements and procedures. It does not involve giving legal advice.

Volunteers will be expected to attend Sheffield Combined Court Centre approx. one in three Wednesdays from 9.30am - 4.30pm. Training and supervision will be provided.

This is a great opportunity to observe the work of the courts first-hand whilst assisting individuals and promoting access to justice.

To volunteer you must:

-Be able to commit to spending approx. one in three Wednesdays at the Combined Court Centre. This would ideally be during holiday periods as well as during semester times. However, we will consider applicants who can only attend during semesters.

- Currently be in your final undergraduate year studying the LLB or Law and Criminology OR a postgraduate student on the LLM or MA.

- Be enthusiastic about promoting access to justice through supporting litigants-in-person.
