Exam and Assessment period (Tuesday, 26th May - Saturday, 13th June)


The library will be preparing to welcome and support you during the run-up to exams over the next few weeks. There will be a number of changes to our spaces designed to ensure that there are as many spaces available as possible for your revision.

  • You can find full details of The Library's exam support offer within the Student Hub and links are also in the Your Library Essentials guide. Here you’ll find information on the different types of study spaces available across our sites, including information on our ‘traffic light’ noise system so you can find the right space for you. The library also secures additional space across campus, Including at the Wave and the Students Union, to allow you to find a space to study wherever you are.

  • IT Spaces - View Find a PC to check live computer availability across campus.


Between the 27th of April and 1st of June we prioritise access to our spaces to our students. During this period, external visitor access to our sites is limited, and no visitor passes will be available for use at Western Bank Library or the Health Sciences Library. Additionally, group rooms at Western Bank Library and the Health Sciences Library will not be bookable for the duration, creating additional walk-up space. Group rooms at the Information Commons and The Diamond will continue to be bookable as normal.


Finally, we’d encourage you to study healthily and take advantage of the Library’s wellbeing offer, including using study break passes to ensure you take regular breaks without losing your space, and making use of wellbeing spaces such as the Garden Room and Sensory Study Room at the Information Commons.

Web of Science - subscription ending

  • FAQs - The University Library’s Web of Science database subscription ends on 30th September this year, and to support users through the transition, we’ve put together a set of FAQs. These focus on alternative resources you can use, and guide you through using equivalent features in Scopus, another large multidisciplinary database which is a good alternative to Web of Science. 

How to download eBooks

The Library has created guidance on how to download eBooks available via StarPlus. 


EBSCO ebooks will no longer be supporting Adobe Digital Editions, instead read the guidance on how to access an eBook downloaded from EBSCO Host.
