Reshaping Legal Services Conference 2026 - Poster Competition and Bursary
We're excited to invite you to register for the next Reshaping Legal Services conference, held at 10 Union St in central London.
As we did last year, this event will also be live-streamed, enabling those who can't join us in-person to take part fully within the day's proceedings.
Organised by the Legal Services Board and Legal Services Consumer Panel, the conference will once again bring together a wide range of people who have a role to play in ensuring legal services work better for those who need them. That includes lawyers, legal services professionals, regulators, academics, students, the judiciary, charities, and advice agencies.
What to expect
The conference will feature a variety of expert speakers, panel debates, and Q&A sessions centred around:
• Rebuilding public trust after high-profile regulatory failures
• Strengthening consumer protection in a more complex market
• Responding to the growth of unregulated provision and AI-enabled legal tools
• Tackling unmet legal need and improving access to justice
• Clarifying the future role of the Legal Services Act 2007 and reserved legal activities
• Aligning regulators, policymakers and stakeholders around shared priorities for 2030
Attendees will consider what legal services should look like by 2030 and what regulation must do now to help deliver fairer outcomes, stronger confidence and better services for consumers and the public.
With consultation on the LSB’s next three-year strategy launching immediately after the conference, this event is a timely opportunity to test evidence, share perspectives and help shape the priorities that will guide legal services regulation in the years ahead.
Whether you attend in-person or online, this will be your opportunity to share ideas, help generate solutions and network with others across the sector.

Poster Competition
A brand-new element of the conference is to invite law students from England and Wales to submit a poster - an opportunity to showcase their research, innovative ideas, or projects to legal professionals and fellow students.
Their idea could be about Innovation, AI, LawTech, EDI, Consumer Protection, Ethics, Consumer Redress or something else.
The best posters will be invited to participate at the conference. There will be a public vote at the event, and the winners will receive a framed certificate.
The deadline for poster submissions is 5pm on Wednesday 30th September 2026.

Bursary Place
Applications for a Bursary place at the event are now open! Students are encouraged to apply for a grant to cover travel (standard rail) and/or one-night accommodation and subsistence, up to £200 (including VAT). In return, we will ask students to provide a 600-800-word blog for our website, reflecting on the conference from their perspective. Alternatively, they can produce a vlog or podcast.
We want to invite students who can demonstrate that they have contributed to addressing the challenges in the legal sector outside of their formal studies and training. This might include:
1. Publishing a blog or article about the challenges facing the legal services sector and possible solutions
2. Volunteering at a law centre
3. Taking a leading role in a student society linked to legal services.
We are particularly keen to receive submissions from underrepresented groups, and we encourage attendance from across the legal professions - not just those following the solicitor or barrister route. We also encourage attendance from mature students/career changers.
